Bianca Notte
by Lee Gaines
Starry eyes,
Look around,
Waiting for the break of dawn to release them,
From the bianca notte,
Gentlest of thoughts,
Tango to exhaustion then tango some more,
Yearning for morning’s rays,
To end the din of the bianca notte,
Time stretches,
And pulls,
And folds,
And twists,
As the sun finally rises,
Lifting the chaotic stillness of the white, sleepless night,
And bringing forth,
The eternal day.
Starry eyes,
Look around,
Waiting for the break of dawn to release them,
From the bianca notte,
Gentlest of thoughts,
Tango to exhaustion then tango some more,
Yearning for morning’s rays,
To end the din of the bianca notte,
Time stretches,
And pulls,
And folds,
And twists,
As the sun finally rises,
Lifting the chaotic stillness of the white, sleepless night,
And bringing forth,
The eternal day.
