About

The formerly-named Communications High School Literary Magazine has time and time again been a safe haven for unconfident writers and beginning photographers. It has been a place to share laughs and bring light to dark things and escape the stress of academic pressure. So when the magazine's editors received an anonymous suggestion to change our magazine's name to The Commons, the edit board thought it fit perfectly.

A common room, according to Merriam-Webster, is a "lounge available to all members of a residential community." More specifically, according to Google, a common room is "a room in a school, college, or other institution for use of students or staff outside teaching hours." The Commons is where artists of all levels and disciplines sit together, break bread (really, store-bought cookies), and find unity in their common pursuit for creation.

Three times a year, The Commons publishes authentic writing next to provoking art and photography in a student-designed magazine.

This club is led by our wonderful adviser Ms. Gesin! General membership meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month during the second half of the lunch/activity period in Room 143. Check for specific dates on our Google Classroom (code: hrvo4zo) and on our Instagram.
